Jackson and the Dentist's Drill

In my mind, Michael Jackson will now and forever be associated with the dentist's drill.

Sitting in the Dentists chair today, typical easy listening music played in the office. My dentist numbs my gums, and starts to drill. That little cavity will soon be gone.

When she pauses, the music is gone and the sound of a very formal voice is in the middle of reading aloud a verdict...something about giving alcohol to a minor. I think, "what a strange thing to be listening to in a dentists office". I wonder why they changed the radio station to some kind of court-room broadcast. The reading goes on and on, and I hear little bits whenever my dentist pauses or changes implements.

We're done! Yeah! As I walk up to the front desk, to pay the bill, I realize what we've been listening to. The radio station had broken into it's "regular programming" to broadcast the Michael Jackson verdict.

Now why would they do such a thing? Seems very strange to me.

Dragonfly Psychic

My friend Vera has a new blog called Dragonfly Psychic!

By a strange coincidence, we both chose very similar design templates for our blogs. I really like the dragonfly icons she's added.

But what if you're wife's a geek?

Emily Hambidge caused a bit of excitement in the blogosphere today, with her article about dating a developer. I told my husband about it, and his immediate response was to laugh and say "but what if you're wife's a geek?"

We came up with some perks to having a geek for a wife:

1. Tons of free T-shirts, since they almost never give away T-shirts that are small enough for me to wear. One exception was a T-shirt from Macromedia with the Central logo on it.

2. I like chinese take-out even more than he does--especially if it's from Eric's on Church Street.

3. I'm not really interested in gifts of jewelry--tech gadgets will make my heart skip a beat.

4. Neither one of us plays emotional games. We're both too busy being geeky to bother with relationship issues that aren't real.

5. We both love getting the legos out and playing with the kids.
