The Truth is Stranger Than Fiction: Man Mows Down Pedestrians With SUV

Living in a city, you have to expect to see an occasional accident or pull over to let emergency vehicles pass by, with flashing lights and waling sirens. But yesterday's rampage was like something out of a bad movie.

On a family outing, our path was barred by police cars and yellow tape, closing off all but one lane on a long block of Divisadero. A few hours later, we had to go around another taped off street. It seemed like a lot of activity in such a short time.

This morning, the front page of the Chronicle showed us just what all that activity was. They weren't unrelated. Apparently, a man in an SUV was intentionally running down pedestrians, and was even doubling back to hit people gathered to help the injured.

Blogathon 2006!

The blogathon is almost here! I'll be blogging over at the galaxygoo.org blog, along with other Flash coders, to benefit the non-profit organization GalaxyGoo. We'll be posting experimental Flash projects every 30 minutes, for the 24 hours of the blogathon. Some have a science or math twist, others will be computational art, and still others will be both.

The fun starts at 6am (pacific time) on Saturday July 29.
